'Aparijita',
an initiative of Voluntary
Health Association of India,
is a long term relief and
rehabiliation project for
people affected by disasters
and natural calamities.
Aparajita litterally means
the woman with the indomitable
spirit. it aptly describes
the indomitable spirit of
the people who have survived
the calamity and are stuggling
to rebuild thir lives once
again.
Aparajita was initiated
for the fisherfdolk, artisans
and other victims soon after
the super cyclone in Orissa
in October 1999. it has
continued till 2002 and
has benifited lakhs of people
under a wide spectrum of
rehabiliation and livelihood
support activites. Similarly,
a relief rescue and rehablitation
programme was initiated
in Gujrat after a massive
earthquake hit the region
of 26th January 2001. It
is currenty underway to
benefit over 3000 families.
VHAI.......
Voluntary
Health Association of India-(VHAI)
is a non profit, registered
society formed in 1970.
it is a federation of 24
state Voluntary Health associations,
linking over 4000 member
institutions across the
ountry. VHAI is one of the
largest health and development
networks in the world.
VHAI
advocates people-oriented
policies for dynamic health
planning and programmes
management in india. it
initiates and supports innovative
health and development programmes
at the grassroots with the
active participation of
people. VHAI promotes health
as an issue of human right
and development.

beneficiaries of VHAI's
programme includes health
proffesionals, researchers,
social acvities, and government
functionaries and media
personnels.
